During a field hospital experiment as part of the “Engage 5G & beyond” project conducted in partnership with the Rennes University Hospital and b<>com, Obvios was able to demonstrate its know-how and the performance of its Dome private 5G network.
In a fictional scenario involving major flooding, the challenge was to rapidly set up a field hospital with a multi-bed intensive care unit in an isolated environment, using Dome deployment. In just a few hours, at the foot of Roazhon Park (a football stadium in Rennes), the Rennes University Hospital was able to set up a functional intensive care unit connected directly to the hospital's information system, thanks to the Dome private 5G network, enabling patients to be cared for and monitored in real time.
To benefit from a reliable, high-performance and secure monitoring and data transmission system, each patient's monitors, respirators and cameras are connected to the 5G private network. Data is transmitted in real time to the control room, from where nursing staff can monitor patients more closely, access their medical records via the University Hospital information system without any interruption in transmission, and react immediately to any alarms. By way of example, the Dome private 5G network enables the use of the b<>com *Human Pose* system, which analyzes and detects risky patient movements in real time.
The monitoring system is designed to enable medical teams to carry out their care duties in the best possible conditions, even outside the hospital, with full access to their tools and optimal patient monitoring.
The trial also demonstrated that the Dome solution, which is simple and easy to deploy, can be quickly mastered by medical staff who are not experts in telecoms networks.
This test demonstrates the benefits of using 5G technology for health crises. It could enable healthcare establishments to rapidly deploy outdoors and increase their intensive care capacities in exceptional health situations.
This experiment is part of the Engage 5G & Beyond research project, funded by France 2030. This project aims to build and operate a network of open, national and sovereign platforms offering 5G services for the transformation of the healthcare, energy, automotive and agri/food industries. Engage 5G & Beyond project partners: b<>com, CHU de Rennes, EDF, Eurecom, Images & Réseaux, Nokia, Orange.
